New York Meeting!! All Welcome

JUNE 28, 2005 TUESDAY MORNING

11:00 A.M.

GRAND CENTRAL STATION - UNDER THE CLOCK

BE THERE IF YOU CAN!

ok, back to non caps, whew!

yeah, if you can make it, there will be a meet and greet in new york city on june 28th.
no set plans, but i'm hoping for lunch together and maybe a walkabout.
take some pics (of each other) and hit a camera store or 2, 'just looking thank you!'

so far, connecticut is on board.
toronto really isn't THAT far away and of course, the locals are more than welcomed to join. (we need guides, eh)

if you can make it, maybe sign on here so we have an idea as to the size of the group.
if you have a pic of yourself, post it here too so i can recognize you all.

i'll be the round bald guy with the camera in his hand and the silly grin on his face!!

joe

Cool! I'll be there. I guess my avatar is as good a pic of me as I have right now. Look for the guy with the John Deere hat and a backpack.
Just looking? I need a camera bag and I find those impossible to mail order so if I haven't found one by then, I'll be buying(if I can find one I like).

How about meeting in DC in December?

Oops... no good camera stores in the area...

I'll be there... like Frank!

Hey, there is a picture of the clock on the bottom of the first page here if you are not familiar with GCS.

http://www.nyctourist.com/grandcentral1.htm

I am really looking forward to greeting Joe on his return back east.

Once we get a list of those attending we should share some cell phone numbers, just in case. And if anyone perhaps can't make it at 11 with a phone number you can track us down in our travels.

I think we need a recommendation for a nice place to get a comfortable friendly lunch.

We will keep bumping this as the date gets closer.

That is a viable option! I'm getting married in September (!) and we are moving, hopefully, into our new place in June. I'll be needing alot of my time off for this, but I will certainly try. It would be great to meet some members of this forum.

joe... let me know. I'll be returning from Costa Rica on Saturday, June 25, but I sure can swing to the airport. It's about one hour away from here.

And, of course, you'll see the nice little soft release being put to good use on a handsome M3!!

Again... how about DC later?

Just kidding!

i would love to shake your hand francisco.
an hour is a lot of time to travel considering it would be for a coffee only.
i have some flight info to clear up as the tickets and the updated info emailed to me is different.
i either have an hour and a bit or 2.5 hours layover. i understand an hour will barely be enough time to get from one end to the other for flight changes but 2.5 hours should be ok i would think.

it sounds fun. i am in need of some culture. ct is very boring sometimes. does one have to have a camera to tag along? in other words, can i bring my kid and/or hubby with me? hubby hates the city so that might not happen, but who knows.

Cathy, you are more than welcome to join us, no matter what or who you tote along. I can't say that hanging out with us will qualify as culture though, no matter where we are.

Photographic culture does exist, Ralph... and we're IT.

Or at least fairly good representatives of it.

I think you mean a Dr. Browns celery soda, known as celery tonic to my generation. The cream is good too.
The place to go is Katz's on Delancey St. Most kosher delis dissappeared with the cholesterol scare. Add a portion of stuffed derma (kishka) to the pastrami sandwich and you might have to return to Canada in a box. You would deffinitely be in heaven, however.
Expect to see you on June 28.
Kurt M.
P.S. you can recognize me by my avatar. It was taken in 1961, but I look in the mirror every day and have noticed no changes.

J.Ed, I think we're talking June here. Just FYI!

Joe - I just spoke with She Who Must Be Adored - you know she's from NYC herself. If we can arrange the finances, we'll arrive together and split up; me with you guys and she with her family. If there's going to be some kind of dinner later, she'd be up for that.

Anyway, we'll try to put it together.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Bill... I really like that turn of phrase from "SWMB Obeyed" to SWMB Adored." Why didn't I think of it first? Hmmmm...
