Summicron 50mm does not fit R-D1(!?)

Greetings all.

First forgive me my clumpsy descriptions below, its simply a product of not having the precise vocabulatory on the rangefinder matter >> greenhorn.

My R-D1 works flawlessly with a summicron 28mm. However mounting my 50mm summicron gives a certain oneven resistence when focusing, clearly more so in the long end, and allmost (or completeley) gone when focusing close. This is coupled with the rangefinder screens "jumping", and in effect impossible to "melt together".

The 50mm works smoothly and with no problems when no camera is mountet.

The obviously guess is a mecanically misaliance between the two, much to my surprise. Having checked beforehand at http://www.richcutler.co.uk/r-d1/r-d1_11.htm - and reading like a maniac on the net - this problem came as a surprise.

Any good advice or comments from you good people? Can it be fixed (easely) by a repair facility?

Lens is SN 2794733, upgraded with 6 bit chip.

it should be a mechanical problem. Both our Cron 50 work fine with my RD-1.

Looks like the tracker does not roll normally. Show us the bayonet with the 6 bit chip please.

I've reduced the contrast of your pics to have a better view of the mount but i don't see anything abnormal at first glance.
Now it is possible that the tracking wheel of the body (M4-2 below) doen't roll normally along the cam of the lens or is not aligned perfectly with the latter.
You might wish to press gently on the tracking wheel to check if it wobbles more or less and moves smoothly or not.

Greetings all!

So.. Checked the tracking wheel af the body (M4-2), nice smooth soft tension, no wobbling to notice.

On further inspection of the Summicron I noticed two small elevations on the bronzelike cylinder - no more than about 1 mm. when looking down on the lens they are placed like 7 o'clock and 11 o'clock. (see pictures). I dont se these small bumps on the 28 mm Summicron - and suspect they could be the reason for my problems (?).

PS: Had noticed these beforehand, but forgotten ...

I had a 50/2 like yours in my youth but i don't remember if it had 2 little slopes or one like on my later #11819 version. Mine does not look like a bump anyway. It has been obviously machined and both sides of it are not at the same level. Now i wonder if the rigid Summicron had not 2 slopes as well. Anyway i'm not sure if those slopes or bumps are the culprits so i can be of little help i'm afraid. I would show the body and the lens to a good repairer if i were you.
