Rick,

thanks for your kind words. I would give something to look into the geeses head while it is watching ouit for the duck...

Which lens have you taken for the shot with the two nice ladies? And why have you so much "Jupiter" on your pics? I am assuming for the bookeh ;-)

Cheers,
Andreas

I've only got one M-mount lens at the moment, the one that came with my R-D1; a Voigtlander 35mm Ultron.
But I've been informed that the LTM-adapter ring was shipped yesterday.

I like Bokeh, but in that photo it was not really intentional.

The only Jupiter I have is the Jupiter 8 on my Kiev 2a, it does not get enough exercise these days

@ Ahmed: I really like the last two shots in your series. Perfect focus on the eye of the guy in the shop, and the worn shabby cards shop sign tells something about what can happen to dreams and hopes.

So, here is my next one. Some days ago, I bouht an Jupiter 3 Zeiss Sonnar copy (1,5/50mm). Unfortunaly, it has series backfocus when used with my Epson R-D1, but I found a pretty good repair instruction in the web:
http://www.pentax-manuals.com/repairs/j3service.pdf

It's a perfect manual, thanks, Brian! Only thing to do is to go to the next hardware store, by a couple of tiny screwdrivers and invest one or two hours to gain a perfect Jupiter 3 fast lense.

Here we go (okay, the motive is not really sophisticated, but it was the best at hand unless you want to have a self portrait of me and look for the wrinkles around my eyes to get an idea of what this lens is able to do...):

Cheers, Andreas

PS: The data...distance around 4 feet, aperture 1.5, exposure time 1/60 sec, ISO 800, taken in the night with normal room light, automatic white balance. Not so bad for a 51 year lens, isn't it?

After the self made CLA, this few bucks-some tools-spend an hour-Jupiter 3 (Zeiss Sonnar copy) became more and more my favourite lens.

After the CLA (following Brian's instructions, see former post) it works really perfect. Smooth gear, good focus at near distances and infinity as well.

A short hint for those who are looking out for buying this lens: Production quality assurance was sometimes very poor in FSU. My J3 has a sort of air bubble (approx. 0.5 mm) in the 2nd or 3rd lens, in the lower left quadrant. It doesn't effect the photograph itself - so it's just a cosmetic failure - but maybe worth some bucks if you are negotiating the price for the lens.

Anyway: Here is one more from the kitchen, in the middle of the nigth, aperture fully open, 3 feet distance, soft light:

Cheers,

Andreas

My Epson has developed a hot pixel, probably had it for a couple of weeks looking back at my images, I only noticed it just now when I was testing my Pre-war Leitz 50mm Summitar f/2 Lens

My Summitar is a piece of crap, there's a bubble in the front lens element, and I can see some separation along the edges of the front elements. Lots of brassing. My Summar is in way better shape.

Testing some old and new toys with the R-D1

Nikon SB-24 Flash and 35mm Ultron, 400 ISO, 1/125th @ f/16. I need to practice a bit more with this flash before next Friday.
Incidentally; this is a small part of my "Battlefleet Gothic" Chaos Fleet that I'm currently using against some friends in a campaign.
