Juvenile red-tailed hawk, I believe, Sutro Baths San Francisco. He was just sitting there and cleaning himself (this was taken with a 35mm lens !). After a few minutes he flew off.

I recently saw a Red-Tail take out a pigeon in Brattleboro VT, right downtown. A puff of feathers and that was that. I walked back by later and all that was left was a huge patch of feathers in the parking lot.

A few days ago, I found this roll of Neopan 1600 at the bottom of a box of my old photo stuff, and developed it in XTOL 1:1. Based on other photos on the roll, this is from November, 1999. There's a tremendous amount of speckle in the shadows; 11 years between processing and development of ISO 1600 material will do that. That said, I'm simply amazed at the detail retained in the first image at higher mag [1500 x 1000]. The camera was my then brand-spankin'-new M6 with 35 Summilux ASPH.
