Thanks .

There is a focal plane datum line marked on the top plate of the RD-1. From here to the outer surface of the lens mount the distance is 28mm. I don't have my body cap to hand to allow for the profile of this if you want to be more acurate.

Are you intending to drill & fit a pinhole?

I just remembered that you posted in another thread about this. I think it will result in the equivalent of a 43mm lens on the R-D1 and therefore lack the usual pinhole wide angle view (if thats what you want) unless you use use some form of recessed body cap to get the hole closer to the focal plane.

Hi Jim,
thanks for your reply.
My question was for having the distance from plate to focal plane for a pinhole body cap use, yes.
The right distance for me is 28mm, from this focal I must obtain the correct exposure: 43mm is the FOV, I think it's not important for me, really.
Thank you very much!!!

Are you making your own pinhole or buying one on a plate to insert in the body cap?
This is the optimum size and and resulting F Stop and image circle for a 28mm focal lenth from inhole calculator:

Pinhole diameter 0.009 inches 0.223 mm
F Stop 125
Image circle diameter 2.12 inches 53.8 mm

Its quite a small diameter hole to make yourself without the right tools.

I have an old body cap with a 2mm hole. Now I thin to insert a little plate with a smaller hole, 0,25mm, I think. The biggest issue is that cap is a k mount, my attempt will be also to adapt it to m mount. If I had not succeed I will buy one already made, I have found an US shop that proposes them in 21, 28 and 35 focals, my real interest would be the 21: pls, do you know someone in UK that does them?

Vincen,
The Dutch Leica Goodies site seems to have what you need, but if it does not work out here is a UK supplier.

They cut holes in a 1cm disc down to 0.2mm and 1cm shims with 5/1000 inch about 0.124 cm as well as supplying pre-made body caps it holes.
