Bessa L spotted on World News Tonight

Watching ABC's World News Tonight, 04/23/05, story about Bobby Fischer, a film of his recent press conference in Reykjavik showed a journalist (or a fan, perhaps? might've even been a psychiatrist) behind him with a Bessa-L draped around his neck.
Not a current owner of one, but I've long been tempted. Now tempted even more.

For sixty nine bucks at Cameraquest you can't beat it. Buy one; I've got two and love them both.

A question for you, Baron Scarpia---- will my Jupiter 12 work on that body?

Good! I don't have to buy one, then.... I get tempted too easily. I've always wanted a Bessa, but I've just never gotten round to it, and this would not be a good time. Not only have I exceeded my camera buying allowance (for the rest of my natural life) but my little girl is sick, and my previously disposable income is now more precious. As I drove into the parking lot of the pharmacy the other night, a thought crossed my mind, "Won't be any more cameras for a while. " More important matters to attend to.

Take care of your little girl! You can always buy cameras or not, but kids are the real treasure. Hope she gets well soon.

Treasure and nurture the little girl. Then, when she is well again, take a picture of her healthy and laughing with whatever camera you've got, and share it with us.

Screw the Bessa! Take care of your daughter. You can always get one when she's better.

Thanks, Captain. For those who have so kindly expressed concern, my daughter is 4 1/2 months old, and for the last 4 weeks she's been treated for a sinus infection and allergies. Just this past week we find out that it's RSV instead, now she's on steroids, inhalers, strong antibiotics. She sounds like somebody smoking a hookah when she tries to breathe. But it could be worse, the child from her day care who is the 'source case', is in ICU with it.
Bessa can wait. Hell, my wife says kid sick or not, the Bessa can still wait...

If I have a daughter, I would rather taking more photos for her than buying a camera.
Hope your daughter gets well soon!

When my daughter, Lauren, was 18 months old, my wife and I were camping in the remote Chiricahua Mountains in the southeastern corner of Arizona. We had hiked in about a mile on a narrow trail, etc. At 3AM Peggy said, "My God, feel this child!" I did so. She was burning up with an extremely high temperature. We threw sand on the coals and trotted out (thank God for a full moon), fired up the old Dodge pickup and drove wide open for sixty miles to the nearest hospital. The 1950 Dodge, already 30 years old, would never be the same again.

We skidded into the emergency lane, leaped out and rushed inside. The ER crew gathered round and we uncovered Lauren. She was smiling. Her temperature was normal. She spent the next 15 minutes giggling at the funny clothes on the ER folks, wondering what all the fuss was about.

I hope your daughter's illness turns out as well as my daughter's did (she's now 25).

Regards.

Ted

My God, that must have been terrifying, to be about as far as you can get from medical services, and have something like that come up. Glad it turned out alright.
