Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

Hmm was something supposed to happen to our M8's on 09.09.09? lol!!!!!!!!

"A Hard Days Night"

Here's a "behind the scenes" snapshot done after my VW magazine shoot this past weekend.......

M8 w 1992 Summicron f2/50 at something like f2 or f2.8 on iso 160, with very limited photo retouching ~ the lovely model is Rachel Lousie, she was such a trooper, we all had less than 4 hours sleep the night before the big shoot and we started at 10am Sunday and shot through till about 4:30pm, so he she is, starting to fall asleep and waiting to go home........

I love my M8 it's keeping me very busy, I use it everyday!

Tom

PS: Rachel looks alot like Anne Francis....does anyone rememebers that beautiful film and TV actress?
~ We plan on doing a "Forbidden Planet" tribute shoot sometime soon!

I love what you're doing with your M8 Tom ... you should have had one a while ago methinks!

I don't use mine a lot to be honest but when I do it always floors me with the image quality ... but then again my only other digital is a nasty little Canon point and shoot so I guess the M8 is always going to look good in comparison!

Here's a shot I posted in the gallery in colour last night but this one has the focus point moved to the snake and not the tap handles ... I also converted it to black and white which kind of makes the snake seem a little more sinister which he wasn't actually. Just a very placid Python waiting to see if he could make a meal out of the rodent that keeps building a nest in the laundry cupboard below ... I wish the snake luck because that damned delinquent rat is annoying the sh*t out of me!

tcline: nice look! which lens did you use?

l really like the files from the m8, you can do just abt anything to it w/o much loss in quality.

Perhaps this is old news, I just realize how nice BW is from M8. Anything low iso will be in color, and anything high will be BW. Sweeet! This is my first BW shot from it.

Image was cropped a little and exported to my web server with Lightroom.

Here's one of my amazing little Muses ~ Miss Amaris Jade, relaxing in the tree next door
(in like 39 degree weather here in Fla. *goosebumps included*)

Shot on Leica M8 w 1967 Canon f1.2/50mm shot somewhere around f1.2 or f1.4, in late afternoon/evening iso 160 and very limited retouching/post processing.
(vintage styled foundations/lingerie/stockings by www.girdlebound.com)

Enjoy

Tom
