Martin, I've an Epson 4490 a couple of steps down from the V500. What settings did you use for the scans. I've been having issues with my scans and I think it's in the settings. FWIW I was out last nite and shot a roll of 24(13images) of FP4+ and developed it. So I'm ready to go. Help's appreciated

absolut nothing special,
only epson software at 1200 dpi and a little bit fine tuning after automatic,
after all photoshop and controlling tonalrange,
rescaling down to a height of 400 pixel and a white border

Martin, thanks, that's actually a help. I seldom scan that high a resolution. Usually it's max 600 dpi. I'll try this. I'm sure it will help. I'll post to this thread later.

I have an Epson 4990. I always scan 35mm at 4800 dpi. Medium format at 2400. All settings on auto-pilot. Works like a charm.

Okay, I guess I'm just impatient due to the length of time this size of scan takes. Maybe I'll just have to try it and see the results. Thanks

Yeah, it does take a while. I find it helps if you are doing some work on the computer to while away the hours. Also, if you are scanning 35mm, the 4990 can be put into "auto" mode, Epson calls it "Home" mode in their SW, and the scanner will automagically scan every image in the holder. I can do 24 in a single pass this way without any user intervention required. That was the best thing I discovered about the 4990. Else, I don't think I could stand scanning.

martin-f5, what film did you use? Your shots are wonderful. Also, is that a 45MM lenses? That's a fuji-made lenses, do you know if it follows any particular design?

I don't think the 4490 has that feature, I'll have to check. It would be nice because sitting at the desk is like "waiting for paint to dry"

it was some years ago I shot those photos,
but I think it was a ILFORD FP4 or may be a Fomapan 100.
but all with the 45 mm Hasselblad lense.
Unfortunately I sold the XPan because I didn't like it that much,
yeah it was a fault, now I'm missing this kind of taking photos.

Here in RFF they are resized and they loose sharpness.

it is the original epson filmholder wich has no framelines between the neagtives,
very easy to use
