I am think about picking up some Ortho film and trying to get some really period shots out of my early Leica gear.. I have not gotten any yet but I was wondering what developer you use with it...

Thanks for any help.

Does anybody (still) make a readily available ortho film in 35mm?

My dad used to swear that Verichrome Ortho (not Verichrome Pan) was one of the best films ever made. It was discontinued long before I ever got my first camera.

I do seem to recall that he said he developed it in the same stuff he did Super-XX and Verichrome Pan, but I'm not 100% sure. That was a bit before my time.

Only one I'm familier with any more is Maco's ORT25 and I have no clue of anyone who carries it. I've only ever read about it.

i got some from b&h but i think freestyle carries it as well. my pro lab dunks it in ilfotec DD(i think) for 6.5 min. time ws a matter of trial and error. here's an example (some russian rf with a canon 35/3.5 with a chipped internal element!)

Sadly, it would appear that you have a bad Holga- it's sharp.

Seriously, though, those are lovely images! I pull Pan F down to 25 on occasion- I love the look wide open, though it's hardly Ortho. Best I can do to simulate it is a strongly blue filter (43mm) I have for the Mamiya Universal's 65mm Metrogon copy.

luckily i got another one that is more "holgaesque".
thanks for the compliment...that ORT is fun film...very slow but very sharp.

Freestyle suggests Kodak D76 straight for 6 min @ 68 degrees F or D76 1:1 for 11 min @ 68 degrees F.

Another ortho that I believe is still available in Europe is Macophot PO 100, which can be developed in ordinary B&W chemistry. Sadly for me, it's no longer sold in the U.S.
