Is this 50mm for real?
I saw this advertised on Ebay for $4999. Claimed to be "better" than Noctilux as it has aspherical element. Only one piece made. Does anyone know of any information of this one-of-a-kind lens?

My guess is that it's good enough to perform what it will be stressed to:
Stay on a shelf in low light, under temperature, humidity and dust controlled environment.

They made more than one of these. They were sold in a kit with the limited edition Titanium HexaR RF. This one just appears to have the serial #00001.

Doesn't the noctilux have an aspherical element?

If it is serial 001, then it will show 0001/2001, not 0001/0001.

WHere does it say ON THE LENS that it actually is indeed aspherical?
And yes, serial number looks funny/photoshopped to me too.

Not everyone marks their lenses with aspherical elements as such. It's mostly a Leica thing that some others have copied.

Wasn't this the 60mm and not a 50mm?

The original 1.2/50 Noct was ASPH. If I remember correctly it was the first commercial lens to use ASPH surfaces. But it was so difficult to produce these elements that the lens was discontinued.
The current incarnation of the 1.2/50 Noct does not use ASPH elements.
I think it is difficult to compare a 1.2 and 1.0 design. They are as different as a 1.4 and 2.0.

Looks like the seller photoshopped the edition number for an attempted scam: "It is a limited lens, ONLY ONE ever made. Yes, it is never in the market, it is A Museum Piece!"

Yep - "garden variety" HRF Limited lens. I betting on the photoshopped SN as well. And that's no "museum" quality front cap - not even an original. What a scam.

This is the same guy who was selling the M3 # 1,000,000. Wonder if that was legit?

It is the 50mm, not the 60mm. The 60mm is black with the front in chrome where the filter sits..
