Hi All,

I'm going to Ottawa w/ my girlfriend over Christmas. I won't have a lot of time, but I want to photograph as much as possible.

Any of you live there? Visited there before? Is Henry's worthwhile to check out?

Ottawa

Hi, I was in Ottawa two summers ago, never in the winter. The Rideau canal is very nice, with locks on one end empting into the river and supposedly the canal becomes an ice skating rink this time of year. Also, the parliment building is nice and there is a park across the canal, in front of the national gallery museum, which is also really nice. There is a bridge next to the national gallery museum that goes to Gatineau, you can walk across, civilization museum on that side and views of Ottawa skyline. Lastly the Byward Market is nice, well at least in the summer it was, they said that it gets really cold there in the winter, so good luck.

My favorite areas are the Rideau Canal and Ottawa River, Parliament, Byward Market, Lower Town. I attach a photo that I have just posted. If you search on 'Ottawa' as a location you should find quite a few more of my shots.

Cheers,
Kirk

In the winter, I prefer driving around Ottawa for night photos... During day time, I like to shoot around the parliament hill area (Wellington St.) and Byward market (Sussex Dr.). All photos in my set are geotagged, if that's any help.

Enjoy your stay in Ottawa!
