Wow Nice Black P on eBay!.....Leica Prices...

After joining this forum and reading these canon rangfinder threads, I remembered how I used to spend time with my grandfather looking at his photographs and playing with his cameras. He was the one who introduced me to photography, when I turned 13 he gave me my first camera! All I can remember was that it was a Canon RF. (I think it was a Datalux?). So after some searching I came across this black P on ebay but was shocked at the price. No difference to Leicas?? Is this normal?
The Auction is at : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3841155896

I was thinking that I wouldn't mind getting a P, But at that sort of price......

a black p is very rare and expensive.

a normal p will sell for between 250 and maybe 350 u.s.

That particular P has been on ebay more times than I can remember without selling.

Pacific Rim are nice guys, but on the expensive side. I've bought from them and their descriptions are accurate but their prices are often significantly higher than other dealers.

maybe i'm romantizing it, but i tend to see guys who use canon rangefinders, like the p, as working stiffs who would not spend leica type money on a hobby/camera.

therefore, there are less collectors who would pay 3200 bucks for a black camera.

just a thought...

Canon produced more RF cameras than anyone else but Leica. There were about as many Canon P's as there were Leica M2's. I like my M2, but would not pay $3,200 for one in Black. Now, a Nikon SP in Black... That is a different story...
