Red face A word of caution on shooting in the rain..

This morning I ran into something I never experienced before when shooting in the rain. And in fact it wasn't even the rain itself that posed the problem. I was shooting a lit tower from below. As I didn't have a tripod with me, I placed the camera on the ground, and fired some shots using a cable release. So far, so good..

But when I got indoors in full light.. Oh horror, that camera was covered in sand and crud that got swept up by rain drops falling on the ground!

This is going to take me some time cleaning it, all the while taking care that I don't make scratches, or have the sand work it's way into any opening..

Heh, I have a small handheld digicam that creaks and grinds from all the sand accumulated in it over the past 5 years....it still works though.
There's sand in there from Omaha Beach in Normandy, Ullapool in Scotland and Havelte in the Netherlands.

I wouldn't want it to happen to my other cameras
Good luck in cleaning yours up.
