Photogs / Photo Exhibits This is the place to discuss a particular Photographer (work, style, life, whatever), as well as to post Gallery and Museum Photo Exhibitions and your own impressions of them. As we march on in this new digital world, it is often too easy to forget about the visual importance of the photographic print, as well as their financial importance to the photographer. It is also interesting to remember that some guy named Gene Smith shot with lenses that many lens test reading "never had a picture published in their life" amateurs would turn up their their noses at, as being "unacceptable."

Highlights include:

- Andrea Meislin Gallery will to present an exhibition of photographs by Vardi Kahana, entitled One Family. The exhibition will open on November 10 and close on December 21, 2007, with a reception for the artist on Sunday, November 11, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. This will be the artist's first solo exhibition in the United States.

- Steven Kasher Gallery will present
Death War Protest Love: An Important Collection of Photojournalism Exhibition: November 15th through December 22nd, 2007
An opening reception will be held on Thursday November 15th, 6-8pm
This exhibition continues Steven Kasher Gallery's exploration of the intersections of photography with histories of struggle and empowerment. War Death Protest Love: An Important Collection of Photojournalism brings together many of the major icons of 20th Century photojournalism -- juxtaposed with their lesser-known variants. The show will feature over 120 graphic vintage press prints with their original captions. The attempt is to reproduce the overwhelming emotional impact of the photographic archive we carry in our heads and to disrupt our collective memories by showing the images from another perspective.
