do you do landscapes ? what filter brand you use ?

After seeing what my M8 can do with landscapes ( never tried landscapes with my MP go figure ) , and since now I have two camera bodies and a 28mm lens is on the way, I want to buy a decent ( read good but not a Leica polarizer price ) filter or filter system.

Saw Kood, Cookin, Lee and a few others, apart from the traditional bolt on linear polarizers.

I bought one in Singapore , unknown brand, which is absolutly crap. It softens the image greatly and gently ( very gently ) polarizes it. What is sharp becomes blerghhhh soft.

So I would like to know what you guys use ( from people who actually use polarizers or ND ) on your leica ( film or digital ) .

Share your opinions and samples if you have them,

thanks

I use Lee's system. Filter quality is pretty good, nice selection, it's a standard size so you can use filters by HiTech and other manufacturers. I like the hoods that they have available.

Cokin are pretty crappy - even the P system.

For the most part though, I only use graduated ND's and such with view cameras, or MF cameras. 35mm seems to small to be worth the attention to detail.

I use B+W. Good quality. But since I only use a Polarizer I do not have much experience with anything else. I used to use Lee Nd's and found them outstanding in quality. In high contrast situation, I now shoot 2+ shots and use HDR to blend.

I only use the Leitz filters, including the polarizer. I tried other brands and the mechanics become an issue-they tend to get frozen on to the lens. The Leitz filters are just a better fit. As everything I own is an e39 or e41 I didn't have to buy a ton of filters. The cameras live with the yellow filter on, but for landscapes I usually go to a green or red. Stu
