Keith, alternatively, you can become our little group's ambassador and take the little Oly for a hike in the beautiful mountains and streams in NZ.
Come to think of it, this applies to all of us. If the time when you get the RC coincides with your vacation, you can take it with you.

Ok, I promised y'all that I'd come up with the first draft of the routing scenario. Based on my limited international geography, here's the draft:
1. Andrew, Melbourne, Australia
2. Keith, Brisbane, Australia
3. Gavin La Grange, Sunshine Coast, Australia
4. Herman Abdullah, far east?
5. Anne-S, Beijing, China
6. George Harmantzis, Athens, Greece
7. Thomas, Germany
8. Richard "Bluesman", Malmö, Sweden
9. Huub Linhorst, Netherlands
10. Jaap Dijks, Utrecht, Holand
11. Sinetsin, Pamplona, Spain
12. Dylan Thomas, Wales
13. Andy Shaw, London, UK
14. BJ Bignell, Verdun, QC
15. Derrick, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
16. Paul Shelasky, RI, United States
17. Brad Bireley, PA, United States
18. Chris Heilman, AZ, United States
19. Erik Haugsby, MN, United States
20. Wobbly, UT, United States
21. DrLeoB, Bay Area, United States
22. Chris Tennyson (RdEoSg), CA, United States
23. Will Gunadi, TX, United States
Three notes:
1. I'll eat the most expensive shipping cost, from Dallas (US) to Melbourne (Australia). That's why Andrew is no.1 to go.
2. Please help me with inputs and suggestions.
3. Please tell me whether we need to come up with a pool to help out with shipping cost for those who are assigned international shipping (me excluded).
And finally, where art thine infos?
6. BJ Bignell, Verdun, QC
8. Anne-S, Beijing, China
11. Andrew, Melbourne, Australia
13. Herman Abdullah, far east?
15. Dylan Thomas, Wales
16. Thomas, Germany
17. DrLeoB, Bay Area, United States
Please make haste to give me your infos (read post #38) so we can get this going.

Geez, it's like pulling teeth with some of you
I've resorted to PM the remaining 7 stragglers who *still* haven't submitted their infos yet. Look guys, if you're not serious, please don't commit in the first place.
It is unfair to those who signed up and participate accordingly.
Please, do the right thing.
PS: For those who haven't subscribed to this thread, please do, that is if you usually pay attention to your subscribed threads. It's a nifty feature that allows for easy heads-up and updates.

Will, how do you want to do the shipping - there should be a universal agreement with the type of shipping. I'm happy with sending to the far east with normal sea mail however this can take up to 2 weeks overseas. Express is more like a week but twice the price. If express mail is needed however I'm willing to pay for it.
It would be really great to have the results from each person printed in a nice little book, I would be willing to pay a decent amount for a nice quality one - it's not very often you come across a chance for such a great idea!

I think that each person is responsible for the shipping, and if they got stuck with an international leg, that is their problem. It's not very expensive to ship in most cases, and as a one time cost it's something pretty much everyone will be able to afford.
One good guideline might be to pick a shipping option with tracking and/or insurance, even if it's slow. This way, at least somebody knows where the camera is!
I have a question, too: I haven't noticed a regulation about time/number of rolls for each participant. What's the expectation? For the other travelling camera project, I think it was supposed to be one week/one roll. Have we decided on something like this? And, if someone takes a really long time to ship the camera, can we get the mods to make a sticky thread with which we can shame them?

How's it going, Fair play to Will!
I know it's late in the day as far as the planning etc of this is going- just came across this thread, and have been kicking myself that I didn't spot it sooner!! Disgusted......but.......
I see that your sign-up in Wales has not followed through- I'm in Ireland, Cork to be exact, spend a fair amount of time around the west coast, which is the most western landmass in Europe....would be delighted if you'd consider me for the appropriate leg of the European tour, if the Welsh member doesn't step up to the plate.
It'd be brilliant!
Anyway, you might let me know one way or the other??
And if ever there's a similar project on the go I'd love to be involved.

EDIT: Ooops, Andrew (Never Satisfied) already PM me his info. Sorry.
Ok, finally the remaining participants are responding, here's the latest news:
6. BJ Bignell, Verdun, QC - Got yours
8. Anne-S, Beijing, China - Changed her mind, she's courteous enough to consider the unreliable international shipping to her place and afraid that the little Oly would got lost. I appreciate that.
13. Herman Abdullah, Malaysia - Got yours
16. Thomas, Germany - Got yours
17. DrLeoB, Bay Area, United States - Got yours
11. Andrew, Melbourne, Australia - Got yours
15. Dylan Thomas, Wales - No info, sorry, you'll be replaced by Daragh
Waiting on the wing are:
Andy (Range Loser), UK
Conrad Yiu, Shanghai, China
Desisslaw (Spider67), Wien, Austria - Got your address already
I'm going to PM Tarzak, Daragh, Andy, and Conrad.
If they sent their info within the next day from now, they are in and we're ready to go.
Bear with me guys!
PS: About the rule, I forgot 1 week, I already mentioned up to 2 rolls. I'll update the first post (the OFFICIAL Rules-of-Engagement post, print and post it in your bedroom if you haven't ).
PPS: Gavin, as I said already, I'll make a book out of our photos together. Let me tell you, this will be a kick-butt book, I have one made for my daughter using Blurb.com and I'm quite happy with the result, so I think we'll go with that one unless if anyone can suggest something else.

Just a note: Will sent me a PM about this, but I decided not to participate because I'm simply not very good at keeping to a schedule with projects like this. I didn't want you to think I was totally ignoring you, Will (see, I even put off replying!!) ... it is a fun project and I probably should join for two reasons:
1. Camera is an Oly
2. I need the discipline
But at this point in time, I simply don't have the desire to make the committment.
Best of luck to all,
Earl

Good morning y'all!!
It's a glorious day, too bad it's Talk Like A Pirate Day no more, because I feel like a pirate with a keg of Rum. Arrr...
I finally got *all* of participant's info. And here's the semi-final routing:
1. Andrew (Never Satisfied), Melbourne, Australia
2. Mark Tatarinoff (Tarzak), Surry Hills, Australia
3. Keith, Brisbane, Australia
4. Gavin La Grange (fdigital), Sunshine Coast, Australia
5. Herman Abdullah, Malaysia
6. Jon Mitchel (jonmanjiro), Yokohama, Japan
7. Conrad Yiu, Shanghai, China
8. George Harmantzis, Athens, Greece
9. Dessislaw (Spider67), Wien, Austria
10. Thomas (wallace), Germany
11. Richard (Bluesman), Malmö, Sweden
12. Huub Linhorst, Netherlands
13. Jaap Dijks, Utrecht, Holand
14. Lluis Riera (sinetsin), Pamplona, Spain
15. Andy Midgley (Range Loser), Norfolk, UK
16. Andy Shaw (android), London, UK
17. Daragh Regan, Cork, Ireland
18. BJ Bignell, Verdun, QC
19. Derrick (sienarot), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
20. Paul Shelasky (pesphoto), RI, United States
21. Brad Bireley, PA, United States
22. Erik Haugsby, MN, United States
23. Leo Barnard (DrLeoB), CA, United States
24. Chris Tennyson (RdEoSg), CA, United States
25. Jonathan Johnston (Wobbly), UT, United States
26. Chris Heilman (Chris101), AZ, United States
27. Will Gunadi (shadowfox), TX, United States
Why semi-final? because ... "I'm a programmer, dammit, not a Transportation/Logistics Guru"
Please, please look at where you are and see if I make a glaring mistake in my geography
And... overnight I thought of something.
This will be added to post #1, btw.
I think to keep the interest high during the project, each participant, after spending up to a week (could be faster, encouraged even) with the RC, have to write a short report posting on this thread and attach/link ONE... let me repeat ONE picture only out of the FIVE.
Why? because one picture is like a teaser, it'll satiate our curiosity, but it'll still be a joy when we all get to see the rest of the pictures in the final book.
Once again, *please* do not attach all five pictures in the report (unless you're sending me a *different* set of five pictures which will end up in our book).
Next, come up with a name either for the project or for the camera itself. So far:
- Little Oly's Big Adventure - idea from Gavin
- Name the camera Ikkyu-san - idea from Will (half-asleep)
- ...
And lastly, the camera will be dropped soon at the post office here in Texas en-route to Melbourne, Australia.
Andrew (Never Satisfied), you're #1, watch the mail. Don't worry about the shipping cost, I got it, just get the cheapest, tackiest trivia souvenir and pass it along the little Oly. Your next stop is Keith in Brisbane, I'll email you his address.
Thanks all for joining this very exciting project. I'm pumped... super pumped. The project has officially begun!!!
Please help me with suggestions, ideas, warnings, heads-up, etc. This is OUR project.
And last but not least, how to upload your scanned best 5 photos from the little Oly:
1. Make sure you name the file(s) you're uploading with your name.
2. Go to: http://nextcoder.net/photos/upload
3. Upload the file(s) (standard HTML file upload)
