Maybe it's the back to work blues.
Here's the background.
I've taken quite a few pics in the last couple of weeks, and I'm doing some scanning and filing of the photo's I took during my summer break. I went to Lacock, Wales (for a wedding) and Lille, loaded down with two Pentax bodies four lenses a Ricoh GX8 and a MJU-II. For the Lille trip I left the AF pentax and lens at home.
The Pentax SLRs performed well as expected and when I did n't have the time or inclination to delve into the camera bag I used the Ricoh or the MJU.
Now that I'm at the editing stage, I find that I'm keeping a lot of the snaps and grab shots and even prefer them to the more carefully taken SLR pics.
I'm now toying with the idea of a GRD, the price seems to be falling rapidly, plus an RF thats lighter than the FED and more controllable than the Canonet, as my travelling outfit, and of course the gx8 and mju.

Don't know anything about the GRD, but I have some suggestions on the RF that meets your criteria:

- Olympus 35RC - very small, full manual control, excellent lens
- Olympus 35RD - just a tad bigger than the RC, but better and faster lens (f1.7) and more expensive. this one is the best, IMHO.

I'm going to Turkey soon, and I've been thinking about cameras to take. As everyone has done I go from very light to the whole kit. I'm coming around to your thinking. This January, I took a Canon SD-10 (small digital) and a Konica C-35 (35mm compact c. 1970) to Mexico. It was so easy, I loved not having all the stuff. I was going to say the same thing about the RC.

The GR-D is a nice camera, although slow write times make RAW unusable. Straight out of the camera b&w JPGs are very good though. I sold mine in favour of using the RC as my daily carry around, I now only use digital on the rare occasions I'm shooting colour.

Thanks for the suggestions folks, the little olympus looks interesting but maybe the mju is too close to be worth carrying both around. But if I should spot one for sale, who knows?. Perhaps the bessa R might suit me and then I can use the fed lenses.

I think I'm trying to justify the purchase of a GRD, I can live without raw as I only have an A4 printer, but will the results be noticably better? Are in-camera b&w jpgs any better than de-saturated colour ones?
Will I ever stop asking questions?

Thanks Richard, I just got an Olympus 35RC. I have run two rolls though it and everything is good. It may replace the Konica C35 in Turkey.

If the change works for you, do it! At least give it a chance. And if you feel one day it's no longer satisfying then change your ways again. No shame in that.
