Mamiya 7 repair

The small (flimsy) plastic tab on the crank that opens and closes the light curtain on my M7 is split in two. I called Mamiya and they assured me that this is a relatively easy home repair, and they sent me two replacement tabs plus a schematic showing that it is held in place by a spring loaded pin, similar to that in a watchband.

But even my tiniest jewler's screwdriver cannot fit between the crank and the collar around it to depress the pin and remove it. I'm stumped. Anyone done this or know how it's to be done. Do I need to remove the screw goes into the end of the spindle? Then what?

Any help will be appreciated. Can't understand why, in such an expensive camera, a frequently-used part is so flimsily built.

Larry
