Fine Camera Auctioned on eBay

Take a look at this auction. Right, it's not a Leica M but it's still a Leica. Not only the story, but the camera pics are great. I was even tempted to pick them and keep them in my computer just to look at them when I feel like... looking at cameras in the computer.

In any event, I'm not connected with the seller or have any vested interest in the sale. Just wanted to share this with you.

I don't think this will come up as an active link, so just copy and paste.

I've bought a few things from this fellow - he's great, and his items are as described - my opinion is that he's very honest.

Best Regards,

Well I can use that Steinheil finder for my Contax IIIa. I see this seller handles "Gooeyduck's" merchandise now. I hope Marv is Okay. He had some medical issues.

Brian,

I meant that I had purchased a few things from Marv/Gooeyduck over the years, and he is great to deal with. I realize that he's having someone else handle his sales now. I did recently have correspondence with Marv - he had posted a lens for a Braun Super-Paxette as a Leica SM lens, and I wrote to point that out. He was very quick to ammend the auction.

By the way, the Steinheil multi-finder was made for several cameras as OEM - including the Braun Super Paxettes and the US Argus C-4 Geiss-modification. I'm told it's quite nice, but I never manage to get my hands on one - last minute prices tend to go up sharply on those.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

This gal and her friend Marv seem like quite a pair; folksy and straightforward, and obviously enjoying the eBay auctions as self-expression as well as a sales outlet. I have not purchased from them, but they seem honest and also have the benefit of being in a familiar area only about 100 miles from me.

The gent in question seems to be selling off a rather large Leica collection. Apparently he's reaching the point of "You can't take it with you". I've seen that same blurb a number of times on e-bay. And by all appearances, it seems to be an honest source to deal with.

Marv and Pat are greatSellers. I think it's great that they took the ectra step about warbing of the fake Elmar lens.

Russian Industar lenses (I-22 and I-50) look a lot like Elmars. However, the focusing tab tends to lock at infinity at about the 9:00 O'clock position instead of lower down like a Leitz lens. Also Russian lenses have their focal lengthsmarked in millimeters. Don't the lLitz lense have them marked in centimeters?

The body however looks genuine.
