LCD Major Problem

I have had my M8 for some time now. All of a sudden my LCD screen is broken. about 25% of the screen has this digital lines running down the side of it on the left side. There is absolutely no physical damage signs. (and as far as i know, no big impacts happened) it just all of a sudden showed up. It still takes the picture correctly and everything else is functioning fine. The LCD monitor looks as though it got busted, yet again, no physical damage. Every happen to anyone?

so frustrating!!

When I have seen this sort of symptom on other electronic devices it has been due to a broken, loose or damaged ribbon-cable, or connector, which should supply the signal to the screen.

But the camera should still be under warranty, shouldn't it ? (Trying to sound positive!)

Good luck.

[Martin] yes, i'm hoping it is covered under warranty. i'm trying to stay positive as well.

[lencap] i dont think so, i was on a road trip when i first noticed it. But i was in the air conditioned car the whole time so i dont think thats what caused it, but i guess you never know.

I think Martin's diagnosis is most likely correct. A pity it has to make the round trip to Solms just to push a connector home.

Well its on its way back to Leica now to see what the problem exactly is, so i'll post an update just in case someone else has this problem.

(Damn UPS though, overnighted the camera, and i tracked it... and its now delayed b/c of some mishap in the UPS facility where it didnt get put on the plane. Luckily i put insurance on the shipping! But i just want my camera back!)
