Barcalona with the 35 SP

The photos came out super sharp and contrasty the lens is lovely. I may well leave my DSLR at home in favour of the ease and excitment of using this camera.

It's working very well, I took a couple on auto to see how it coped
and I was really pleased. Mainly working in manual and it's a real joy...
setting everything and attempting to pre-empt things..
such as focusing roughly where I expected this guy to jump..



Taken several sets of black and white photos which have come out well,
although finding places which develop and print well is tricky. I've also
been printing at university (we have a lab for electron microscope work)
which has yeilded some good results.

Generally pretty happy.

Say, Toby, did you scan from the prints? you may want to run some contrast adjustment and a tiny bit of unsharp-mask to put the picture back to "snap" for web-browser viewing.

I'm afraid I have a very average scanner (built in printer one) The prints are wonderfully vivid and sharp, do you think asking the printers to make me a high def scan CD is the simplest way to go?

Also I like that one too, think I took it at F 1.7.. really loving the shallow depth of field you get with it.

Toby, just slap some Unsharp Mask on there scanning always looses some sharpness.

Try amount=10%, Radius=60%,Threshold=0 for macro contrast (and apply the same again if you want more), same goes for absolute sharpness with settings amount=20%,radius=3%,threshold=0. These are for me, I used them when scanning in some old family photos on a crappy Canon flatbed. You may want to tweak them to your liking. Important note is to apply the same USM with low amount more than once rather than once with a high amount.

It depends on what you're primarily going to do with the pictures.

I prefer to print it myself from a good scan. My cheap Epson inkjet printer can print better than the local photolab. That's what modern labs are doing anyways, they don't wet-print the negatives anymore, rather, they scan the negatives and print from them.

So if you're end goal is to store the image online, it makes sense to pay for the scan rather than the print (so you don't pay twice).

Couldn't agree more. The bokeh (out of focus area) from that G.Zuiko lens is subtle and lovely to look at.
