Question Battery Replacement for HI-Matic 7s

Hi All,

Please welcome my first post and perhaps a newbie question! I did search my question but did not find or overlooked any possible answers.

I picked up a Minolta HI-MATIC 7s today (wonderful condition and so clean) and need a replacement battery.

What is the best kind/model# to get and where from?

I did a search online, but wondered if you folks would know best and lead me in a faster more accurate direction.

Thanks Kindly in advance

When I had a HiMatic 7s, I used a regular 1.5v alkaline battery. With print film it was close enough. You can also use a zinc/air battery that are 1.4v usually. I've used hearing aid batteries with good success. They are MUCH cheaper than Wein cells. The problem with zinc/air batteries is their life span, counted in months. Also, you have to let them activate for a few hours to get up to full voltage.

Thanks BSchall! I appreciate the response, suggestions and info!

Today I was out and about and stopped into "The Source" and found a replacement battery for $3.99 CDN.

The model number is 2300465 and it's made under the NEXXTECH brand name.

It replaces:

PX625
EPX625BP
V625U
RPX625
KA76
V13GA
Type KA
KX625
LR9

I use a #675 zinc/air battery with a small rubber O-ring as an adapter for size. It puts out the right voltage and gives accurate readings. An alkaline battery will work somewhat, but the voltage will be too high to begin with and then will be okay for awhile and then will be too low. The voltage curve slants -- a lot. The zinc/air batteries have a level voltage curve that is close enough to the original mercury battery's voltage that it makes no difference. They only last about a month, but since they only cost a buck each, who cares?
