Rome for 1 week - anyone else leaving?
My wife and I will be heading off to Rome for 1 week....
The M6 along with a 35 & 50mm & 32 rolls of HP5 & Tri-X are ready to go. The 50 will serve more of a back up role as I don't foresee removing the 35mm Skopar off the M. We're super excited of course...
Anybody have any trips planned?

I'm leaving next week to Costa Rica. For about 10 or 12 days, I'll be on vacation, but come May 30th, I'll be teaching Spanish to a small group of American students that will catch up with me by then.
I'll return on June 25th... only to take off a couple of days later, for Germany.
Definitely anchored back in the US by July 15th.
It's going to be a looooooong summer.

jky... sounds like a nice trip. A week in Rome... Never been there! Darn!
Since you guys added the technical info: I'll drag my Nikon AF gear to Costa Rica. I have some chances at catching wildlife in a couple of places where my wife and I want to go. I'll load some color print and slide film.
Now, for the European trip, it's definitely Leica only. And film will be color slide and a few rolls of FP4 and Fuji Neopan 1600.

Just booked a trip to Florence end of next month - will take my Bessa R3a, with the CV 40/1.4, 28/1.7, & 12/5.6.
Can't decide on film as yet. Usually I shoot slow - ADOX 50, but being in the city and not sure of lighting I think that I will try some HP5, or Tri-X?

Avotius: I've been aching to go to China for quite some time now - lack of holidays just don't permit the long haul trip (from Canada). Seeing your pictures intice me even more....
Francisco: Costa Rico then Germany.... make sure to take an Ambien & get some rest in between!
Chris: Florence is a place I'd love to go back to.... because of the narrow streets I found that some 200 & 400 film helped a lot as many of the things I wanted to shoot was in the shade (my experience only).
Cheers!

I'm going to Fiji this summer and then in the fall I'm visiting Ireland. All family connected.

Nothing much this summer, just a week in DC for a conference. The wife and kids are tagging along, so it should be fun.
Then a two week Baltic cruise the latter part of September.
Vietnam and Cambodia in March 08.
Planning on Petra/Jordan in the fall of 08. Hey, we plan early.

I just got back from London and Paris. I took my R2A and a few lenses (including my Hexanon 50 that I picked up from the post office the day I left).
I used the Hex for probably 80% of the photos I took, braking my rule of not using untested gear on a trip. No problems though! I'm very happy with the results.

Definitely bring some fast film. It's a beautiful city with lots of interesting buildings and historical sites.

Venice for me...but I'm only going there in my dreams.
Good thing is, because I'm dreaming, I'll be taking some incredible kit with me!

Been there... unfortunately we only had 1 1/2 days, and that was before I got into photography.
I would love to go back. In fact, I'd love to do Italy all over again.
BTW, it is possible to do Venice without costing a lot. Just make sure you stay on the mainland side and take the train over.

This is what I did several years ago. If I had it to do over again, I'd sell one of the kids and stay in Venice itself.
Such a wonderful city...I'd love to wake up there and be able to walk the streets and alleys before the crowds arrive.

Steve: Go to Venice!
My better half & I rented a 1 bedroom apartment there for 2/3's the price of an average hotel....
Apartments are the way to go if you haven't done that before.... usually lower prices, larger living area, kitchen & sometimes washer/dryer & internet (so you can post pics here!).
7 nights in Rome will cost me less than $800.00 CAD - thats $49.95 in Arizona currency...
Cheers, j

Venice is such a romantic city and if I went back now, I'd have to take my wife with me. Where's the romance in that?
