Reluctant Ricoh GR1
Hi Folks,
I have a Ricoh GR1, which I think is great.
It's taken some good shots over the years, despite the fact that I've never really sussed out using it properly.
One thing I've always noticed is it's occasional reluctance to shoot. Sometimes taking a few presses of the button (or holding it down) whilst it messes about focusing and whirring. However it seems to be getting worse, sometimes refusing to take a shot at all. Not good for a P&S intended for street work.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a real problem?
All suggestions welcome!
Bob.

Bump to the top just in case the nightshift has any thoughts.

I think it probably has a fault... It should take a picture even if it can't autofocus (defaults to 2m or something) or thinks it's over-exposed (takes a picture with maximum shutter speed anyway). I don't think there should be a significant lag.

Thanks Tom.
That's what I thought.
I may try a new battery. I can't remember the last time I changed it.

just out of curiosity, what mode do you shoot in, or does this happen in all the modes?

Hi Ray,
It seems to happen in all modes.

Result!
A new battery seemed to do the trick. Strange I would have expected some kind of warning if the battery was on its way out.
It's good to have it back and firing fast.

Mine misbehaves in various ways when the battery is getting flat - especially with flash enabled. You learn to recognise it but it is very annoying.
Still - the results are wonderful.

Totally agree Mike. It's good to have it back on song.
