.58 finder in an m6 classic?

I'm curious whether it is possible to replace a .72 finder with a .58 in an m6 classic. I haven't seen any info on that conversion on the net so that may be providing a partial answer, but I'd love to be able to see the 28 framelines wearing glasses and don't really want to go with an 'upgrade' to an MP, or a used .58 m6 ttl. Any info out there would be appreciated.

All the repair people I have spoken to say this is impossible - Leica will not sell the parts and there may be other technical issues (RF window separation distance) that prohibit this.

However, there are screw-in adapters available that will reduce/increase the effective magnification.

eBay seller HKSupplies (Hong Kong Supplies) sells both 1.25x and 0.85x screw-in adapters that will give effective 0.90 and 0.60 viewfinder magnifcations respectively.

I have the 1.25x adapter and it is very nice. I expect the 0.85x is made to similar specifications.

My experience as a glasses wearer is that a time comes when the glasses are more a hindrance to vision than a help. I wear a special pair with my SLRs and none with my RFs. Using an accessory 28 mm finder might be better than messing with the camera body; but Gregg's better solution stares us in the face.

Welcome to the forum franson! Would you consider the new CV R4? 0.52 mag and parallax correction in the VF down to a 21mm lens. IMHO a much more functional camera than a 0.58 mag Leica.

.58 finder in m6 classic

Thanks for the replys, guys. I checked out HKsupplies on their .85 eyepiece and read what reviews are available. I'm not convinced it will do the trick as affectively as the 1.5x does for shooting with longer lenses.
With an m3, m4, and m6 in my stable I thought (I guess in a perfect world) I would find completeness with a .58 in my m6. The new CV is a tempting item for what it offers me at a price that feels like pocket change compared to new Leica equip. Wish there were more dealers so I could get my hands on one before committing.

Are you set on keeping the M6 classic? The TTL came .58, and I find the larger shutter speed wheel easier handling (if backwards for you lower #M guys).

FWIW- I don't see a whole lot more with the .58 vs the .72- I do see outside the 28 framelines, but not a whole bunch. With the .72 I can just see the 28 lines. I was thinking it would be wider than it is.

OK you use a 28mm most. The R4 has a 28mm frameline in the VF all by itself. With lots of room around it...
