Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

CaptureOne LF or Adobe Aperture

Hello Group,
Could anyone tell me which would be the better software. I would like to import all my files from my M8 whether Raw or Jpeg to just one package.
The Capture one supplied with my camera just handles Raw.
I have still to carry out research on both but would Aperture have the likes of the crop and tone tools and does it have levels and curves.
I have been using photoshop for a couple of years but I have gotten by with just the basics and haven't even used layers.
Would Aperture give me limited editing with Tiff and Jpeg files?
I want to take up digital imaging seriously but all the talk of colour management is bewildering.
Thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert. Look into Adobe Lightroom. I prefer Lightroom over Aperture and CaptureOne because of it's excellent organization of photos and imaging. It's simple, easy to use and dosn't require a powerful machine like Aperture. It's made specifically for Digital Photographers, so you'll have all the tools you need for most situations. You can download a free trial from Adobe's site.

Hi Naos,
I think I got a little tongue tied.
Adobe Lightroom, Apple Aperture and Phase One CaptureOne.
It's the lightroom I might be interested in.

I used C1 for years - but Aperture is easy to use, produces excllent conversions and has superior editing featurs and excellent data base support (provided you have a Mac).

I haven't used C1 since I installed Aperture.
