Zeiss Contax Forum for the classic Zeiss Contax I, II, III, IIa, IIIa , G series, and if you want to push it, the nice Contax point and shoots. Some spill over from the Kievs, the Soviet copy of the Contax II/III can also be expected. Plus the ONLY production camera ever made in classic Zeiss Contax Rangefinder mount WITH TTL metering ... the Voigtlander Bessa R2C.

First shots from my G2

My G2 finally arrived (just over 4 weeks since purchase on eBay). Pure indulgence, but I'm told the lenses are great. I'm hoping for the best P&S camera there is.

As you can see, its been thoroughly used (which I knew up-front and helped keep it affordable). It seemed fully functional but, still, I wanted to run a film through it to be sure. And of course I get nothing but dull rainy days. So I had not much of interest to test it with. Nonetheless, one roll of cheap expired film later...

I'd say that works! For both focus and exposure. All were with the 45 Planar. My next task is to test the 28 and 90. But they should work just as well, judging from external appearences. I just hope the weather clears a bit.

A few even more boring test shots at:

A beater--very rare for the G2. It is a great camera, if it just had a mechanical manual focus it would be next to godliness. That said you can't argue with the results in color and black and white. Looks like you've got the focus figured out so it's ever upward from here.

WOW! Now that is a G2 I'd love to have. Never seen a black body with any wear at all! Beautiful- gives even a black M4 a run for it's money, and you don't haveto feel like it needs pampering! You will love these lenses! There have been a couple of black 21's on ebay lately- the 21 is the G lens I shoot the most. The 90 can be a real stunner- I've made several 1620 prints off HP5 shot with it.

Does it wear down to brass?

Sepia, there's titanium under the black paint

I too have never seen a worn black G2. My G1 is a beater with bright marks all over and even film markings on the pressure plate. They can take some abuse before they break!

Those are highly saturated colours, Mike.

What film and how scanned? Any significant post-processing?

(not looking to poke holes... just wondering how you got the awesome colors)

Beautiful camera. I've loved my G2 and 21/28/45/90 lenses for about 5-6 years now.

Come share over at the best site for G1/2 cameras: www.contaxg.com
