Decided to ignore tooth acke and be nice, for 1/125 or so, why did you not get the deeper hood? Bartender might have made you a good offer...

can't really fathom why people would own 2 or 3 Voigtlander bodies and multiple lenses, and not own Leica gear instead.

can't fathom why people would buy penthouses in London, but they do.
there is nothing wrong with Leica kit at all. for some people, i'm sure it's price. better equipment doesn't mean better photos (ok well the noctilux comes with a lifetime supply of bokeh). almost every day i see amazing pictures with FEDs and other fsu stuff - and their users are generally very happy.
with Leica, it does generally mean a lifetime of quality, but that may not appeal to everyone. i quite like the Cosina Voigtlander kit and don't mind having 2 bodies and multiple lenses. i also like my 1dmk2 and L lenses, my holga, and my seagull

Because 2 or 3 Voigtlander bodies and multiple lenses will give you far more flexibility than the amount of Leica gear you'd get for the same money.

all good answers, and the price will probably be why I aim for the R3A/M as my work horse until I have the means to achieve Leica status.

Sadly its the status /poseurs who sometimews give Leica photographers a bad image.
A fellow poster on this site and myself came apon a superb example of this when on holiday in St Andrews Scotland ( a haven of golf poseurs in unspeakable pants ) last year.
The culprit was watching Bertram and myself taking photos. My Bessa R2 has a Leica neoprene neck strap with the red dots, only because I found it cheap and it is comfortable.
He came schmoozing across. "what type of Leica is that, I've just bought a new M7" I advised him it was a Voigtlander, he gave me a look of utter disgust " Oh Gawd - really"
I replied he should have spent some of the money on more tasteful trousers and a course in good manners!! He rapidly left along with his fat ugly wife!!
I utterly despise these types whether it is in the field of photography or anything else, the world should "dispose" of them!!
P.S. I have used Leica cameras for years, and still do, but they a just a tool and nothing else.

Looks they are about to take twenty paces turn and shoot it out?
Manners died when dueling went out of fashion, and western folks stopped sticking a revolving cylinder in trouser belt.

Heh, I have over 20 Voigtlander cameras (old and new company) AND have Leica gear too!
I can't fathom WHY I have either, but I have!

I didn't quite mean it like that; in fact I was being sarcastic. It is undeniable however that with the Leica name comes a certain stigma. I'm just a poor college student, so the issue is $$$.

Yes Jarms, welcome to the forum! So a lazy day here in Boston, weather not good, can post some pics of gear. I'm also posting M stuff in the Leica forum...
These three are of my new R4 along with a 24mm Elmarit.

Yes it does Mike. I use it with the hood on and I would say the blockage is a bit more than 20% of the VF. I think many people would find this a problem but I am OK with it. In any case I'm not changing the lens I like it too much. The focusing patch is completely clear BTW.

Peter;
Thanks for your reply, guess I will have to check out for myself to see if it is something I can live with. BTW I was in no way suggesting that your swap the elmarit 24, no, no, no. Thanks again mike
