Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

Black M8 at Amazon (Only 1)

Well late last night there were 2 available -- and I snagged one!

But that means there is still ONE MORE waiting for someone!

Well Amazon has somehow messed up my order. I've actually SPOKEN to 4 CS reps and all have said the same thing, basically "everything's fine and you'll have your camera tomorrow." But NO CAMERA!

That's what happens when I get seduced by One Click shopping in the middle of the night. Oh well.

Gone now, but it is Chase bank that decided it was a possible fraud case. Oy.

I ordered a M8 last year from Amazon but my Chase bank card also denied the charge. The camera was gone before I could call Chase and clarify the matter.
I end up ordering from Rich at Photovillage. I guess Chase doesn't like Amazon.com.

Well after all this -- after SEVEN phone calls to Amazon Customer Service and being re-assured over and over that there is a Leica M8 with my name on it in inventory, they now say "oh, that one was damaged" Yeah right. So I've cancelled the order verbally, but somehow I doubt that they won't charge and ship something anyway. What a mess. No more high-ticket items at Amazon! My first bad experience with them ever.

"oh, that one was damaged"

Wow, that was the same excuse given to me when I called Amazon.com too!
Amazon must have received a lot of damaged M8.

Thanks guys. Yeah, Amazon is fine for what it's fine for but not much else I'm afraid.

I may go with Sean, Aaron. Or Ken Hansen, Jorge. I'll call them both and see what's up.

I liked the idea of Amazon's 30 day MBG since it is a large purchase, but sheesh, they are seriously messed up over there.

This is actually my ONLY bad experience with them in what like 8 years?

I may postpone the M8 for a bit anyway.

Give Tony Rose a call at PopFlash. I was on a long wait list, but my M8 came in ahead of schedule so he may be catching up with backorders. Great service.

SO . . .

I check my email this morning -- after getting a customer service email yesterday saying they are working on canceling the order -- and I get a shipping notification from Amazon! ! ! ! !

So an M8 will show up this morning sometime.

But boy-oh-boy am I gonna write a letter (yeah that'll scare em!)

Anywho, it's the first and last time I use Amazon for a "big ticket" item. Just books, DVDs and ink carts from now on. They are SO good at the small stuff!
