Leica M8 breakdowns after warranty

I don't doubt the M8 is a very desirable camera and I am thinking of getting one.
The purchase price is £2990, this includes a 1 or 2 year warranty.
Once the warranty is up and the camera breaks down the repair bills could be scarey.
I read somewhere a D-lux 2 broke down and Leica charged 750 Euro.
Second hand values will probably be poor as a buyer will be taking a great risk buying one incase of problems.
Will the M8 be sold as an expensive throw away camera or will Leica stand over this camera and give a 5 year passport like the film cameras?
I think if Leica believes they have an excellent camera they should back it up with an excellent warranty.
My Contax G was 6 months out of warranty and cost me £220 to repair a fault. The Leica M8 body is 4 times the price of the Contax G so I would dread a break down.

Robert, anything will break. The question is when.

I've seen Canon 1D MkIIs with shutterfailures within one year, Canon replaced the shutter but charged for labour since the camera had some 150,000 actuations.

LiIon batteries have a limited lifetime, too. The rule of thumb is three years, no matter how often it is reacharged.

And so on, I'm even unsure about the lifetime of a digital sensor.

Robert, you're just fanning the flames. If you're scared, don't buy it. If you live life, you take chances. If not, stay indoors, it's safer.

Early adopters have to cope with problems.

Not the least is the trolls... The M was a problem for many throughout the 50s. Some people did not have their Leica standardised.
