Got my FED 2!!

Sometimes I have a really good day! Today(Tues) is one. The FED 2 I bought from GeneW came today and all I can say is WOW!
He told me it was one of the nicest ones he'd seen and I must absolutely agree!
I havebeen thinking of customizing one of my FSU cameras(ala Jim Blazik's workhttp://www.geocities.com/fzorkis/index.html )But I sure as heck aint touching this beauty.
I won't have time to shoot with it until Sunday(gotta work ) but I know where I'll be then!
I have tried shooting into mirrors so I can get some Camera and Coffee pics but haven't liked any of them. However, the local CVS drugstore has been selling "disposable" digital cameras for a while now but they were too expensive for a toy(30$ + about 15$ for prints and a disc). this week the are on sale at abit less than half price so I think I'll get one so I can post to the Camera and Coffee thread.
Plus I didn't want any of the "family" to feel left out for not being in the shot. Now I'll be able to get 'em all at once.
Yippee! Rob.

hey congrats on the new toy rob!

i have found out that when gene says it's nice, it's very nice.
the canon digital i bought from him looked new when i pulled it out of the box and i consider it one of my 'best buys'.

i bought a fed 2 awhile back and it looked very nice but it didn't work very well. i think that one went to gordon as a fixer upper.
i was impressed with the camera though, good size and feel.
what lens are you putting on it?

and speaking of russian cameras, i'm waiting on a kiev 4a (?), might be here by friday.

enjoy,
joe

joe,
Right now I'm going to use the I26 lens that's on it but I have a I22 collasible lens coming from the FSU that I hope to use as the waliking around lens. I'm taking a bit of a flyer on this one as I don't really know the seller but its not much money and I am willing to gamble. If the deal goes how I expect I will let every one here know(before I sent the money, I "subtly" mentioned that to the guy. I figure he could read that as I would also mention the reverse if this deal went sour) .
I like how this camera fits my hand. I have also noticed that the back seems sturdier than my Zorki 3m.
Ishare your pain about the Kiev--I have enjoyed buying all my FSU cameras but HATED the waiting, And they all arrived within a day of when I expected them! As a child my parents had to hide my xmas presents at some one else's house
I figured they had my name on them so why should I wait?
I have learned some(OK, a very little) couth over the years.
I hope you like your 4a as much as I like mine!
Rob

Rob, I'm very glad to hear it arrived safely. Enjoy, and post lots of pics in the gallery!

You pick a good choose and later on you will found that you really pick a right choose.
Simply and the sound with quiet.
I love Fed-2 too.
