Battery problem?

I've had a new M8 for a few days now and I love it . The image quality is absolutely astounding. However I think it MAY have a problem and I'm hoping other M8 users might help me here:

When I got it I charged the battery fully and the camera indicated a full charge (3 bars). I used it a bit and then recharged (still showed 3 bars). I read the manual and it said you should fully discharge the battery and then fully re-charge it to maximize battery life. So thinking I'd quite like to maximize the battery life I run it down 'til it was dead - mostly by leaving the LCD monitor on. This time after a full recharge it only showed 2 bars . Hmmm. I went out and shot with it and after a bit of street shooting it was down to 1 bar . Not good.

Currently a full recharge = 2 bars
After about 85 shots (without much chimping) = 1 bar
Then it seems to go on for a long time on 1 bar. Not tested it all the way but certainly over 250 shots.

How does this compare with your M8? I've read something a bit similar from another user but would like some feedback from more users before I take it back (I have to say I really don't want to be without it for weeks). I've ordered a 2nd battery anyway but won't get it for a couple of weeks.

Is this a fault? Will it sort itself out with use? How is your battery life? Your opinions please.

Thanks.

Switch off the autoshutoff in the menu, leave the camera switched on overnight. This will drain the battery completely and at the same time reset the battery/camera calibration. Having said that, I have a feeling that the battery is not the strongest point of the camera.....Recharge the battery and happy shooting!

Jaap. Yo da man! Your suggestion did the trick. It took forever to run it flat so there's nothing wrong with the battery capacity and I now get 3 bars on a full charge. Hartelijk bedankt!

"So in summation we will finally have the camera everyone has been secretly longing for. Now if the camera takes a truly great shot there will be no debate- it was the iEye that gets all the credit and of course when an image is not to our liking it’s the iEye’s fault. Yes with the iEye only you can determine it’s creative genius."
