I'm considering a 2.8 screw as opposed to the more expensive M mount. I already have an adapter for 35/135 anyway. What, if any differences are there? I've read the M mount has a closer focus. Is this correct? are there differences in the lens' rendering? Please advise.

I would think that the 2.8 in thread mount would be the more expensive lens. I have the bayonet mount and it is quickly becoming my favorite. Stu

I have the LTM version of the 35/2.8, and use it with adapter on an M body. Except for the minimum focus distance, there is no difference in barrel design, DOF scale, or optical formula. In fact, some early M versions were factory upgrades from LTM. You can expect to pay 50% more for a genuine LTM.
