Save me from myself
I must be crazy.
Ok, I put my pretty much like new chrome CV 35 Ultron in it's box and actually have considered selling it. I want a black lens, I am loosing it.
Talk me down.
So, the plan was to sell the Ultron and buy a Biogon. Not a bad trade off, can't say anything bad about either lens. But because my Ultron is chrome?
I think I just like the thrill of going to the post office and then waiting for a package in return.
Ok, remind me that I am nuts.
Anyone want to trade a black Ultron for my chrome one?
Sick I tell you.

The pursuit of perfection is never a bad thing...and you know it'll just nag at you until you change the lens...

Rover,
This might help?
What color do you want?
In fact, for your kind assistance earlier this week, I'll send you one in any color you'd like!
Hee, Hee !

It is call GAS syndrome.
I am thinking of starting a self help group. Local groups could meet in church basements. All members would speak at each meeting. All the little speaches would begin
Hello, my name is x and I have GAS. Then go onto describe all the stuff they have and why they realise they need no more.
At the end, new members would be introduced to older mentors who would would be on call to help you thru the rough spots.
You might be encouraged to take up drinking or gambling as a substitute.

OK, you sold a 35mm Cron, but hesitates about selling an Ultron? Come on, the damage is already done. Get rid of that piece of junk!

kinda funny...i was just about to start a thread called, 'i'm beginning to obsess'...and talk about selling some of the om gear which i figure would get me about half way to the zm 50/1.5 and putting up the rest of the cash from my own pockets.
that lens has me near paralyzed with an all consuming endless daydream about it and the images i imagine i would make with it.

Take three yellow pills (or blue if you must ), a swig of cognac, a good night's sleep and see things in a new light tomorrow morning.

No, M Biogon. The Contax will be a 50mm machine. I always think about getting a Jupiter 12 for LTM, but I have the Canon 35/2.8 so that should satisfy my need for the classic look in 35mm focal length.
Len for lens, Ultron for Biogon just because I would buy a black Biogon. If my Ultron was black this would not even be considered.

If it's only a matter of that, why not just sell it, get a black one?
You could get a Canon 35 f/1.5 for less of what a new Biogon goes. Then again, it's black and chrome, so perhaps you'd be half-sold on that idea.
I say this: will you miss your chrome lens? Will you miss the ability to take the images taken with the Ultron?

need is really not accurate.
desire
crave
wish for
want
dream about

Ralph, go for it. The obsession won't let you sleep otherwise. I used to cry myself to sleep before buying my Summilux.
Now... I do the same wondering why I paid so much for it.
But then, when I use it, it feels good.
Any chance you can use your Ultron as trade-bait? Consider that path too...

The best part is: When you finally get the "good gear", you start to wonder if it's worth it. Then you start selling off, and get a cheap camera. Two months later you're longing for the good sh*t again.
It never ends.

sell the chrome one - get the black Ultron 35 - your pictures will improve dramatically.
Seriously.
And I have a bridge to sell you.
