Forum Rules
I thought I would post the rules of the forum since some people have asked if there are any. Well, the answer is yes. And here are the rules. By the way, this is one of my favorite sites because everyone is so civil and nice. Thanks for making the forum a friendly place.
Rule No. 1 - No "Flaming"
1) You will not post any messages that harass, insult, belittle, threaten or flame another member or guest.
Rule No. 2 - No "Trolling"
2) You will not post any topic that disrupts the peace and harmony of this forum. Don't create meaningless threads with the sole purpose of starting a dispute. This includes messages in profiles and signatures.
Rule No. 3 - No "Spamming"
3) You will not double post or cross-post the same message in multiple forums. You will not mass-PM or mass-email multiple members of this site the same message. You will not post for the sake of increasing your post count or hack count.
Rule No. 4 - No "Offensive" Posts, Links or Images
4) You will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, racist, sexist, discriminatory, or otherwise violative of any local or international laws. This includes links in your signature, profile, bookmarks as well as posted images, photos and avatars. Staff will ultimately decide if something is appropriate or not.
Rule No. 5 - No Self-Promotion
5) You will not post any messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, forums, email address, business, MLM, activity, or other entities that you have an affiliation with (ie. no self-promotion). No exception, additionally Self-Promotion links will no longer be allowed in your signature.
Rule No. 6 - No Public Posting of Copyright Material
6) You will not upload, attach or post anything that is copyright or licensed.
What happens if I break a rule?
The administrators and moderators of RFF have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread or post, or suspend or ban any member for any breach of the rules or for any other reason with or without warning or notice.
What if I see a message posted that breaks a rule?
Please report these posts or threads to the administrator or moderator of the forum by clicking on the "Report" link at the bottom of the offending post or thread, and the post or thread will be reviewed and action taken as soon as possible.
What is my responsibility as a member?
Please keep these rules in mind when you post. The administrators and/or moderators have the right to change these rules at any time without notice. It is the responsibility of every member to remain updated with the current rules.
Why have rules in the first place?
The rules are there for the protection of the community as a whole and to prevent abuse, conflict and disharmony within the forums.
We take the these rules VERY seriously! We do not tolerate ANY rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive will receive one warning (at our discretion), and if the member offends again the member will be banned without warning.
Finally, any abuse toward our staff and/or management will result in immediate suspension of your account.
Thank you!

Jorge, most of the boards in which I have participated had some kind of code, visibly posted (for instance, it shows up when you start a new thread). In this forum I found it surprising that nothing like it appeared. In fact, this is one of the most generous ones! But it's never bad to post regulations (which in this case make sense) and display them openly. That way, even if people break the rules, they can't claim there were none to break.
However, you have nothing to worry about here. What to some posters in other forums can be tame, to me it is extremely pleasant! Have a nice weekend!

Are there any limits or guidelines relating to the size of image files posted in the gallery and/or monthly projects?
This info may exist somewhere, but I didn't find it yet.

This is strange. Can youpost the image on the regular forum by replying to this thread. Near the bittom when you click reply there is a button for attachement. Use that and I will then try and load it into the member gallery.
Thanks

Gallery Upload ... Secret Password?
I, too, can't figure out how to upload to the gallery. I uploaded a shot in my posted response and wanted to add it to the gallery as well ... but can't ...
TIA.

selling stuff
Hi Jorge,
I'm the lady who bought your fujixpan on ebay...I've never been sorry. It's a lovely camera.
Speaking of rules, I have a camera body and lens I want to sell - is it permissable to post them on your forum, or should I just go to ebay?
thanks,
andcolor

Kinds of image postable
I'm a new member, and must say I like the sound of the rules, here. I mostly use rangefinder cameras, but have gotten into panoramas in a serious way recently. My TX-1 is a rangefinder all right, but my Widelux swing-lens camera is fixed focus, and my Voyageur rotary although it can focus, has no rangefinder patch. In fact it doesn't even have a viewfinderl... Is it OK to post shots from these? If so, I think I've found the photo site of my dreams.
By the way, what WAS the maximum image pixel size? 1,000 x 1,000 or 1,000 x 1,200 (and if the latter, can it be either orientation, i.e., landscape AND/OR portrait?)

welcome to your new home roger!
i don't think we ever did get an answer to the size question.
rff is a pretty good place to hang out, lots of good people, civil & respectful interaction and we even laugh a bit, with each other.

Roger, welcome to RFForum; delighted to see you here! I've enjoyed your good-humored, well-reasoned, and informed posts in CVUG, RF list, and the lens list.
If Bessa-L pics qualify here, then I'd say acceptance is pretty broad. Seems to me anything focusing on a ground glass isn't so well-favored, but I think the idea is to be more inclusive than exclusive. Then there's the Northwest (scenery) Gallery that's open to even those images.
Hope you'll enjoy the forum... :-)

Er, does anybody know? Who would we ask? Since panoramas have such long thin aspect ratios, they really need to be quite wide--preferably 1200 pixels--to have a reasonable depth. Or vice versa (I like taking them in portrait mode, too!)

Thanks for the welcome, Doug. Are you sure you have the right Roger? {grin}
Sounds good! I'll just post what seems best from my point of view and accept any guidance that results. I sure hope non SLR panoramas are OK. And that 1,200 pixel widths are OK.
I'm sure I'll enjoy it! Thanks again.

Size problem
Joe, I find it's not critical... the site just automatically resizes anything over its limit. I (naughtily) sent a 3,500 x 1,000 image and it eventually appeared about 1,000 pixels wide, and slightly "soft." One that was 800 wide stayed the same size. I'll try sticking to 1,200 pixels. If they survive unchanged, I'll be home and dry...

its currently set to a max of 1000 x 1200.
1200 being width.
