Lenshood for Jupiter-11

Both my Jupiter-11's (LTM and Contax-mount) flare easely. I use standard rubber collapsable hoods as they seem the only kind available in 40,5mm filter thread. However, these are not very suitable for a telelens. What are you guys using as lens hood on your Jupiter-11?

Wim, I use a 40.5-49mm step-up ring and mount a 49mm metal lens hood. A smaller lens hood could be used if the step-up ring were to 43mm or 46mm. New metal lens hoods can be found on ebay readily enough for a few dollars.

Until you can find and then afford a Zeiss Ikon lens hood for the 85mm focal length, take the base of your current lens hood, remove or cut off the rubber hood. Then trim the top of a plastic vitamin bottle to fit the base, cut the body down to your desired length, glue it in place with silicone glue, paint as desired and you'll be good to go. Don't laugh. It will work.

Heliopan nr. 9802-1540. This is a 40,5x0,5 long lens hood. You may be able to find it easily in Belgium or Germany. Here in the U.S. - impossible!

Some great (and very creative) suggestions. I contacted Heliopan and they refered me to www.fotofilterversand.de. I ordered 2 lens hoods from them.

Lucky you! Heliopan makes a really incredible range of lens hoods, both short and long. Finding a retailer in the U.S. is virtually impossible because Heliopan is represented here by HP Marketing which is a totally useless company.

Fotofilterversand ships worldwide, but you'll have to do your shopping in German. So you better know what a 'Karteninhaber' is...
