Smile Recommended FSU trader

I just wanted to give an unsolicited wrap to Russian trader Leonid Stremouhov, who trades on eBay as leon1965jazz. I bought a J-9 from him in early October. By mid-November it had not arrived (normally 14-21 days) so I sent him an email to tell him. He replied that he was about to go into hospital, but would look into it in December. When he came home in December he found another similar lens and sent it to me completely at his own expense. I received it today. A thoroughly honourable gentleman - there are not many of us left.

It was actually an M42 one for SLR. A black one made in 1989 by LZOS, cost me US$50. I already have a LTM RF version in silver/"white" made in 1959 by KMZ which cost US$62, and another one in Kiev bayonet, also silver/"white" made in 1960 which was US$75. You could also try alex-photo on the 'bay, or dvdtechcameras.com off the 'bay. I have bought stuff from both of them more than once with no problems. In over 150 purchases on the 'bay and off it I have generally found the Russian and Ukrainian traders to be at least as honest in their descriptions and prices as those in other parts of the world.

Good luck with the GAS. Let me know if you find a cure.

Cheers, Peter.

Oh, and with regard to finders, I have a KMZ turret finder which was US$40, a Walz universal finder which, despite its name, is a Japanese copy of the Leica universal finder, which cost US$69, and KMZ single focal length plastic/bakelite finders in 35 and 85 which cost US$14.95 and US$10 respectively. The turret finder gives the best view - the actual view is round with a rectangular frame and cross-hairs through the middle of the frame, but it is the bulkiest. It has parallax correction by slightly turning the turret. The Walz is the most versatile because it is actually a "zoom" finder rather than five separate lengths, giving infinite choices between 35 and 135. It also has a parallax correction lever which tilts the whole finder. The single length ones are cheap, but they do the job OK within their limitations. I guess you get what you pay for.

Cheers, Peter.

Peter,
Thanks(I think. ) for the positive remarks about this seller.
I might have to move some things from my watch list to my buy list...

Thanks again for the info on your purchase and these traders. GAS is about to move into high gear with the FSU ... stuff for the Fed 2 at least.
If there is a cure i don't want to know about it, the Fed will soon be my only film camera as the serious stuff is all done on the 'dark side' now. ...010100101 So as it's my only film camera i can spoil it a little huh?
I also like the idea of buying from the source, it's exciting getting little packages from Mother Russia tied up with string
