2 quick newbie questions

Hi all

I'm new to the forum. Just 2 quick questions

In the gallery, can I post non RF pics or are all pics RF only (yes, I know this is the RANGEFINDER forum afterall)?

I was able to post 4 pictures but later when I tried to upload more photos but I get:

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagegif() in /usr/local/vbulletin/htdocs/photopost/image-inc.php on line 117"

I'm using MacOsX IE 5.2.3 but it happens on Netscape and Safari as well.

Help?

Thanks
Nick

Nick,

I can''t answer your question, although I would certainly have no objections to any pics posted with any kind of camera, but I do want to say welcome to the Forum!

Great....I guess I'm one of those indecisive ones who use both SLR and RF... Since I only use RF 1/2 the time, I suppose only 1/2 of you guys would talk to me heh?

Nick, welcome to the RFF. While rangefinders are our primary choice of weapons, we discuss other types of cameras too. The Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) seems to be popular among members.

One problem that some encounter is their file name for an image. To post it, the name MUST be a single unbroken string such as "imageforposting.jpg"

A second problem may be file size. The image can't exceed a certain size or it won't load.

Hope this is helpful.

If it's an SLR photo, it has to be a really good photo.
If it's a rangefinder photo, it doesn't have to be so good.

see my gallery for examples

welcome to the forum.

I gather one of the main functions of RFF is to encourage use of RF cameras. I believe there's only one part of the Gallery that is specifically open to non-RF photos, and that's "Northwest Gallery".

As far as I've been able to make out, "RF" includes anything that doesn't primarily view the subject on a ground glass or LCD. We're a friendly inclusive bunch, so it isn't all that rigid... for example Bessa-L is included despite not having either RF or viewfinder, and the odd Bessa-T that has an RF but no viewfinder, and the Olympus XA2 that has a viewfinder but no rangefinder.

In the forum discussions, it seems less important what camera shot an image illustrative of some discussion point or what made that shot of your beloved RF gear and coffee mug!
