Thumbs up News travels FAST!

I sat down at a table outside a busy Starbuck's yesterday. I put the M5 on the table.

Within 15 minutes, give or take, I had 3 folks ask, "Is that the M8?"

Me: "Nope. That's the M5."

Them: "I heard the M8 has banding problems."

The internet has made news instantaneous and global. Whether it be good, bad or ugly.

Once they found out that it was an old film camera they weren't interested in conversation. Go figure.

Like Douglas Adams would have said:

"Nothing travels faster than the speed of light, except of course, bad news".

"Bad news, bad news,
Come to me where I sleep,
Turn, turn, turn again.
Sayin' one of your friends
Is in trouble deep,
Turn, turn to the rain
And the wind."

Percy's Song, Bob Dylan (Fairport Convention's version is great, with Sandy Denny singing). I don't mid turning film, again and again, and today it is rainy in Boston, though foggy not windy.

Wayne, I really like your M5. That's a nice photo!

As for the news... to be quite honest, I'm a bit saturated of this M8 talk. I wish the camera had been really perfect, because then I'd be reading only glowing reports of its faultlessness. Too bad it ain't, because it's been a major storm in most forums.

Still... that M5 of yours made me lust for one for myself!

Ain't it pretty ... I'm going to post over in the "proper" Wayne/Venchka/M5/Hexanon thread with a question about the finish on the M5.

If those digi-dorks couldn't even comment about how baddass the M5 looked, then leave them to digital!

'First bitch' seems about right, judging by all the complaints. What would a group pf Leica shooters be called? A 'bluster' of Leicaphiles?

how did these people know about the banding issue when they couldn't even differentiate an M5 from an M8?
