Wow! CV 15 on M8

I just read through Sean Reid's M8 review part 3, and the tonal scale produced by the CV 15 on the M8 looks absolutely, without doubt, excellent. I love the look of the box cars with this combo, while the RD1 parallel shot has that typical 'hard boiled digital' look. Woohoo! Awesome news! Excellent!

Now I'm really happy I kept this lens and the CV 21!

Right. Make me feel miserable for having sold my lil' 15mm Heliar three years ago because I couldn't see any practical use for a lens wider than 21mm.

ERRRRRR!

Anyone have a used but still clean 15mm Heliar they'd like to sell?

yes, the CV is much cheaper. less than $400.

If you think that was good, just wait until you get a Leica monitor for viewing your Leica photos! Then you'll really be free of that nasty ol' digital look...

CV stands for Cosina Voigtlander. And, yes, I do mean that it is a great value. As for the Zeiss, I haven't tested it yet but will.

I was talking about the capture, not presentation. Poor digital capture quality will show through no matter how the image is presented.

jlw is just being sardonic with the monitor joke. I think he's a little grumpy that the M8 costs more than most of us can easily afford. <G> I can certainly appreciate that point of view.

How about something as basic as the tonal scale? Surely you can tell the difference?

I figured as much, but saw no significant difference other than the movement of the overcast clouds and that caused for a difference in the exposure of the sky. Can you point out what you saw?
