Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

Chrome Reflections?

I really like the classy look of the chrome M8, however, I heard two complaints about chrome.

1. It attracks more attention.
2. It can create distracting reflections.

On #1, I wonder how true this is? After all, most environments are filled with metal objects. I would think a small camera with some metal trim would not stand out among the world of metal that surrounds us. Besides I would think the black camera would create a void of blackness on your face. This would seem equally attention getting.

On #2, It seems that the Leica camera isn't really a shiny chrome. Looks more like a brushed metal. I would think this is not such a highly reflective surface. Any comments or real life experiences?

@1 Only with camera experts Most Cellphones/P&S camera's are some kind of metallic plastic nowadays.
@2 This argument is usually advanced by photographers who see no harm in "protective" filters.

Both comments:
