One thing I would like to add ...

The original "Sean Reid" thread has been closed, and maybe good too.

I have expressed my dislike of paid sites in there, the one like Sean Reids site. However I pay my annual fee here on Rangefinder Forum, this is quite a different thing, I can get all the information here without having to pay for it, but seeing the amount of information I gather here as well as the total "social layer" of this site, although I don't often agree with things, desrves backing and therefore I have the choice to do so or not (pay that is).
This is according to me the way to approach things. I am not the biggest fan of Rangefinder Forum but I will continue to pay my yearly dues, by choice !

The only place that's free is the Wikipedia. Every place else has ads which are a form of payment.

My problem is not with paid for sites. My problem is that in the FAQ's the is a list of rules. Rule number 5 states there should be no self promotion. Sean Reid has posted notifications of his reviews on a paid site 14-9-06 (M8 Review). Others here have stated that it is only $20 to subscribe to his site. It's only $20 to subscribe here but Sean Reid hasn't paid it. Some have stated that he contributes a lot to the site, well so does Steven Gandy but he also pays for an ad to promote his business. If there is a list of rules surely we should all stick to it?

After reading a parallel thread on PNet, I am embarrassed to say that, for once, the thread there was much more civil that the thread on RFF, and I am even more embarrassed by the part I played in instigating its decline. I have communicated with Sean, and that is the last I will say regarding this matter. Cheers.

Toby, I believe this is done with Jorge's consent, and obviously his knowledge. I don't see that it is our place to question or know what that relationship is. We can't judge these things based on if someone has "stars" under their name.
