While we were all sleeping...

...an eagle eyed dealer was pouncing on this. It pays to stay awake! I suppose you would have to search hourly to find something like this.

Leitz 35mm lens $30 Buy It Now

That's why I only use Ebay when there's something I know I want. You could spend your entire life hunting for good deals. That's time better spent doing anything else

At $30 it's worth the risk, but without any detail or more images, I wouldn't be surprised if it is either in bad shape or a stolen item.

I undersatnd that is a resonable price for the cap, throw away the lens.

Not suprised the seller has a 100% rating. You need a trap on his future offers.

He's also selling a Leicaflex SL ER case as a go-anywhere leica "bag." Either he does not have a clue, or is misleading. Either way, I would not deal with him.

Using BIN a couple of years ago I got a Leica M2 for $95. The seller then offered me a IIIb for $50.
Still have the IIIb but sold the M2 on EEKbay..

You tell me. A recent sale:

M6 + Summicron

Look closely at the pictures and then the sales price.

OR, he used a stock photo and is very misleading. Either way, the buyer left good feedback.

Those ebay histories make for some fascinating reading. Ah, the mystery and the narratives one can construct.

A friend of mine got a near mint M4 for $300 B.I.N., which inspired me to set up a bunch of searches showing BIN only, most recently listed first. You'd have to check hourly to catch everything, but checking once or twice a day I found a few good deals - an M1 for $300, and a 35 f1.4 AIS Nikkor for $25 (I didn't buy the M1 as I had no need for it, and the Nikkor got bought while I was browsing the sellers feedback). There were others but these were the standouts. It's not a bad strategy.

That's a Summilux - seems a good bet to say it's a stock photo.

There are occasional bargains still to be found on ebay but you have to look real hard and check often - automatic 'favourite' ebay searches are your friend! There are also sites that provide relatively quick intraday RSS feeds to an aggregator like NetNewsWire (which I can recommend).

Using RSS I've had a fair few bargains when sellers have listed items with a low buy-it-now - I think some people just ask what they think an item's worth rather than doing their research and setting a higher price. It's happening less and less though

FYI: 35mm Summilux

I'm too broke to pay attention or I might be tempted by this. I know. I know. All of my ebaydar red flags are waving. Still, if it's a 35 'Lux for .....
