New here. Can and how do you post photos?
Just joined.

Also just returned from a few days in NYC with the RD-1 and would like to share some images.

Is there a rule on how many images in a thread? Is there a gallery here to link to?

I went to FAQ, and there was nothing on the subject.

I'll try one here...

St Patrick's. Anyone that's been in there knows it's a cave. RD-1 set to ISO 1600 _ 2 stops compensation shot with a Leica M 28/2 ASPH.

When I got home and downloaded, I couldn't believe the lack of noise. I even checked the file data twice !!!

Click the "gallery" button in the upper right of the page. You'll have to log in there also, even if you are logged into the forum.

Hi there fotografz... cool to see you on here, I am a pretty regualr reader of your posts on Photo.net but I think you might like it here as its a really nice group of people compared to some other net forums.

Anyway as to the gallery link, click on the "Gallery" button on the upper right hand side of the page and it will redirect you to the gallery section, once there click on "Login" and then you will see the options in the upper right hand side of the window change to include, "Upload Photos", and there you go.

GREAT PICTURE! Love the blue in the stain glass windows...

I'd love a RD-1 and I really do hope they bring out an RD-2 eventually...with twice the pixels and half the price!

ISO noise is indeed very well controlled on the R-D1 and I use 1600 routinely (on that camera) without a second thought.

Hey, another Michigan person! Welcome.

The R-D1 does indeed perform well at ISO 1600. I don't hesitate to shoot with negative exposure compensation either.

FWIW I've done some preliminary infrared testing and the camera does well there too. Better IR response than my Canon 20D and the resulting image is crisper too. With the Canon IR images seem to mush out for some reason. You must switch on the R-D1's High noise reduction to enable dark frame subtraction, otherwise the hot pixels get out of control. I've set up a "film" profile for this.

May I ask what type of filter you're using for IR? I might want to give this technique a try...
