Photokina, first day...
So what's the news? Isn't today the first day? What are the new Voigtlander products? Any new film scanners? It's already after 10:00am and I haven't heard a word. What's the time difference from Central USA to Germany photokina?

Go to dpreview.com, they are running pictures and updates from all the stands. Always good coverage from dpreview.

After Press Day, I didn't see anything "NEW". It seems that all the SECRETS were leaked well before the show opened. Almost noon CDT so the show is closed for today.

I like how the R-system reps look so lonely, while you can barely see the M-system reps.

What strikes me is the picture of the beautiful magnesium cast body with the machined brass topplate and baseplate. However, the top plate seems to be a mixture of elements. Can anyone there take a closer look?

I think that is a back room thing that Mr. K does for the selected few, Gandy included. If I'm not mistaken, Cosina doesn't have an booth.

The DP1 looks HUDGE in the hand. The GRD has nothing to worry about.

wow.. looks like a pretty dull show. SLRs with more mega-pixels.. lots of zoom lens.. lots of point and shots with more mega-pixels. At least the M8 is something different, well sorta. Drowned in dullness..

Looks like pure brass to me. This camera is going to be a typical Leica M tank. With the heft and feel of the M line. I hope that it performs as good as it looks.
