Olympus 35 EC 2

Ebay purchase. Does anyone know if the film advance wheel should move without batteries install? Thanks.

It should turn and advance the film. Only the shutter requires a battery to function.

Don't know anything about it but would it be possible that the shutter was already cocked and needed fresh batteries to be released and unlock the film advance ?

Let us know if it finally works.

The shutter button works, but the shutter does not fire. I feel once the shutter fires, the winder will work. However, finding the batteries (even the 1.5v alternative) has been difficult. Maybe a larger Radio Shack than the one nearby. I'll let you know.

There are a couple of chains of franchise battery specialty shops around. I use Batteries Plus:

http://www.batteriesplus.com/

look at their webpage for retail store locations. I think your Olympus uses the same size battery as the Fujica GER, Olympus ECR and the Yashica Lynx 5000e and 14e. There is an alkaline version (1.5v) that may work.

Maccabi, you will need RM640 substitutes for the EC2.
If you have any trouble finding those let me know as there are a few places on the net where you can get them as well.
