Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

Leica M8 price: Mark Norton was right..

Hi all,

my dealer just contacted me saying that Leica Italia has "changed" the price
I reported here that the list price was 3800 € italian 20% vat included.
The price now is 4500 € vat included, which suggests me that the old price was indeed ex vat...

I'm sorry for the bad info I gave, my dealer is always very precise and he usually don't give ANY info he is not secure of.

Anyway more than for misinformation I'm sorry I have to pull out 700 € more...

He didn't give me the Tri-Elmar actual price, but I guess that it's about 3000 €.

Mark was right, even if I know he was hoping to be wrong..

Actually about $4800+tax at the latest Euro-US Dollar conversion--what we've heard for some time as the US price.

Indeed.
4500€ italian VAT included means 3750€ ex vat = 4750 USD + tax

More than £3000 !!!

I think I will keep my RD-1 for a while, at least the lcd can be hidden, the shutter is operated by a normal lever and it has those sweet dials on top!

The announcement says €4200 including (German) VAT, €3620 without, which makes it $4600 + Tax, or about £2850 including VAT. All depends on the actual exchange rates used of course but it seems to me to be an absolute bargain, just €850 more than an M7 or MP.

Good job, Leica!

Indeed Mark, not cheap but definitely a bargain in Leica terms.
December never seemed so faraway...

As with all things digital, just sit back a little and await the price drops...
