Helios-103

Speaking of Russian 50mm lenses, I got an inexpensive one of these 53/1.8 lenses for my Kiev 4a. I have a Jupiter-8m and a pre-war collapsable Sonnar 50/2 (my main lens at the moment )for it right now and eventually I'll find a Sonnar 50/1.5 that I can afford. But in the meantime, what can I expect from this one?

Thanks!

William

You should have pretty high expectations. It's a double Gauss design, similar to a Canon Serenar or Leitz Summitar. The Soviets liked high contrast lenses as well.
