Yashica Electro 35 GT vs Canonet
I have GAS again. I have been eyeing the Yashicas and Canonets for about a week now. I would like to know which one has the sharper lens, better bokeh and quietest shutter. Thanks.

Shutter is quieter on the Canonet. As for sharpness and bokeh I'm not sure.

personally i think a yashica is [overall] a better camera..but the canonet shutter is a little quiter..but hey..

The Yashica is less expensive then the Canon ( assuming your are looking at the QL-17 GIII ). The Canon gives you the ability for full manual control. The Yashica dosen't. The Yashica is larger then the Canon. As to Images quaility they are on par in my opinion.

i personally really like the compactness of the canonet the lens is really good but the yashica has a better lens in my book, just from the rolls i have taken i look and see the end result and im always impressed by the yashica. But like i said i really enjoy the compactness of the canonet expecially for just shooting on the street. the yashica kinda gets heavy after hauling it around all day...
just my 2 cents from my experiences...

I prefer the yashica because of the lens, its steller. The canon isnt a slouch either but I would still cast my vote for the yashica. It also has the amazing infalable light meter which not mater what I throw at it never misses a beat.

Get the Yashica GX. It's lens is as sharp as...or sharper than the QL17 and smaller than the GSN/ GTN.

If you need full control over the shutter, and a wee bit smaller size is REALLY important, get the Canonet.
If you need an excellent lightmeter, carefree shooting, AND eventually LONG shutter speeds, get the Yashica.
The yashica shutter is actually, imo, more silent at slow speeds. Being electric, there's no buzzing sound or such, only two very faint clicks.

I haven't shot the Canon. The Yashica is extremely quiet, though, and the lens holds its own against all but the very best. Not sure? Have a look:

My Canon is apart for repair so I compared the GTN with the Minolta 7sII The 7sII is ruffly the same size as the Canon except it's about a 1/4 narrower.

I vote for the Yashica yes its big but it feels right in your hand.i have a Minolta 7sII but it feels to small to get a god grip.so i think its about hand size. Mikael
