Lens cap reconditioning?

I have a couple of lens caps with the felt around the inside to hold them on. However, age is catching up with the felt and the caps are rather loose.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that the felt can be reconditioned, but now that I need that information, do you think I can find it again?
Any suggestions or pointers to the method would be appreciated.

I have got the same problem with one of my caps - so I am with you Peter, any information would be appreciated.

I posted this a long time ago: fill the cap with water, then empty, leaving the felt damp. Let it dry completely (overnight). The felt, as it dries, will expand slightly. When it is completely dry, VERY CAREFULLY slip it over the lens. Try not to damage or unglue the felt. The cap will fit tightly for another two or three years. I use white glue to reattach the felt if it does come unglued. This technique only works on Leica caps. I've tried it on Canon caps and it doesn't work.

Buy new felt from a fabric store and glue it in place. The water did not work for me.

Unfortunately I can not find purple.

B&H carries a line of plastic Kaiser caps from Germany. They work fine and are better than carrying Leica`s into the field. They are made for all lenses from 36 mm up for screw mt elmars to 42 for Summicrons 41 for Summitars, 43 for Summarits. About $6
